Help Haiti Survivors
The HOPE Haiti Redevelopment Fund
HOPE came to Haiti five years ago to provide long-term development services to the Haitian people – but the devastation of the recent earthquake was something we could not ignore. Though outside the realm of our typical services, we worked with our partner Esperanza International and other strategic partners on the ground to rush critical relief to the Haitian people. Thanks to the generosity of HOPE’s supporters, we have exceeded our financial goal for meeting urgent needs in Haiti. Future gifts to the Haiti Redevelopment Fund will assist in Haiti’s rebuilding by helping HOPE expand our microfinance services to reach many who lost not their lives but their livelihoods in the earthquake. Thank you for your continued generosity in this process of rebuilding and restoration!

Pray for Haiti
We invite you to join HOPE International in praying for the victims and survivors of the Haiti earthquake. Today's update is listed below followed by an extensive list of prayer points you may use for your personal "Pause & Pray" time.
Reports from our staff on the ground indicate the development of a strange dichotomy. Some parts of the country have begun to resume a sense of normalcy, while in other parts frenzied aid workers still struggle to distribute emergency relief supplies to thousands of the earthquake’s unreached victims.
As anticipated, many earthquake survivors are beginning to relocate to the Cap Haitien area, where HOPE’s microfinance operations are based. Hospitals in Cap Haitien are overflowing with Port-au-Prince’s injured, and some injured are “hospitalized” in gymnasiums. Cell phone communication within the country is improving, though calls outside the country remain difficult.
Please continue to pray. Though some are attempting to resume their “normal” lives, we know that the situation in the country remains far from normal and that the people of Haiti need God’s healing touch.
- Pray for a pervasive sense of peace and calm, that looting would cease and that aid could be distributed equitably.
- Praise the Lord that HOPE’s team and our partners arrived safely in the Port-au-Prince area and have already been able to distribute emergency relief.
- Praise the Lord for the partnerships that have been formed between various individuals and agencies attempting to assist the people of Haiti. Thank Him that organizations have taken a collaborative rather than competitive approach to this disaster response, reaching as many as possible by working together.
- Continue to pray for the emotional and psychological health of those who lost loved ones as well as those who have been assisting in the relief efforts.
- Pray for the leaders tasked with coordinating this massive response.
- Pray for those who have yet to be reached by emergency aid.
- Pray for the many homeless, for safety, preservation of their health, and hope.
- Pray that the anticipated gasoline shortage across the country would not negatively impact aid efforts.
- Praise the Lord for churches in the Dominican Republic that assisted in packaging the aid materials HOPE and our partner Esperanza sent to Haiti. Historically racial tensions have divided Dominicans and Haitians, but we are thankful that the body of Christ has looked beyond prejudice to bring healing and compassion.
- Pray for those whose faith has been shaken by this crisis.
- Praise God for the generous outpouring of assistance, and continue to pray for the distribution efforts.
- Pray that HOPE and our partner Esperanza would develop a swift and strong plan of action to appropriately transition out of providing relief to our ongoing business of sustainable development, expanding our services to include many who have been impacted by the earthquake.
- Pray that Haiti would receive the assistance needed to rebuild after the urgent needs have been addressed. Pray that the country would not be left in ruins.
- Praise the Lord for HOPE’s dedicated staff in Haiti, and pray that our efforts to help them rest and recuperate would be a blessing and provide refreshment for their weary bodies and souls.
- Pray for safety as banks in Haiti intend to reopen today.
