At HOPE, we're fervent believers that prayer is the most important part of our work. We take God at His word that He hears our prayers (1 John 5:14). And we believe that as we bring our requests before our Father, He will move mountains (Matthew 17:20).

May 2026 prayer update “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:10-12
As we work to equip underserved families with a safe place to save, business loans, and the love of Christ, we know that we need God to equip us, too. Thankfully, the same God who calls us to serve others is the same God who promises to give us the strength, resources, and joy to follow where He is leading us! We’re grateful to have you join us in prayer to our Good Father who meets us all with new grace each morning. Week 1 Pray that God would bring an end to the global fuel crisis that is disproportionately impacting people we serve in countries like Burundi and Zimbabwe. Energy shortages and rising prices are making it more difficult for families living in poverty to make ends meet and save for the future, while also creating travel challenges for our local staff.
Week 2 Praise God that our 10 savings group partners in Asia equipped more than 300 local churches that served over 10,000 new members last year! Pray for our team in Asia as they aim to build on this momentum by adding two new partners this year so more people can encounter the love of Christ.
Pray for Diaconía, our partner in Paraguay, as they plan to expand into new communities this year. Ask God to help them strengthen their systems and work efficiently so they can provide business loans to more entrepreneurs who live in remote areas. Praise God for Rafel, a savings group member served by our partner in Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority country. He shares that through his savings group, “I’ve learned that God is the ultimate source of strength in my personal life.” Pray that more savings group members and entrepreneurs we serve would come to rely on God, just like Rafel.
Week 3 Praise God for successful strategic planning meetings for our savings group and microfinance programs in recent months. Continue to pray that God would give our leaders wisdom and vision for how these programs will continue helping underserved families invest in their dreams.
Praise God for warmer weather in Ukraine, which is bringing renewed energy to HOPE Ukraine staff and clients after months of extreme cold, extended power outages, and ongoing war. Pray that God would continue to provide hope and patience as daily attacks on power and water infrastructure create challenges both at work and home.
Pray for people living with disabilities or HIV/AIDS who are served by Urwego Finance, our microfinance institution in Rwanda. Pray that God would provide these men and women with opportunities for meaningful work, renew their sense of dignity, and help them and their families thrive.
Week 4 Praise God for Karla, a single mother of two who joined a farming-focused savings group through ENLACE, our partner in El Salvador. She learned techniques to improve her tomato and chili pepper crops and used her savings to purchase chickens, improve her chicken coop, and add an irrigation system. Today, Karla supports her children’s education and continues to grow her small businesses.
Pray for FAPE, our microfinance partner in Guatemala, as they develop a new type of loan for water and sanitation businesses. Through it, they’ll help entrepreneurs invest in their businesses and equip communities with access to clean water and sanitation facilities, like bathrooms.
Praise God for a 2025 survey of 277 people whom HOPE serves in the Republic of Congo. The results showed that half of the people reported changing something about the way they live because of studying Scripture with our staff or other entrepreneurs. Many mentioned increased prayer, greater generosity, better financial stewardship, and less anxiety in their lives! Week 5 Praise God for Ana, an entrepreneur and grandmother served by Esperanza, HOPE’s microfinance institution in the Dominican Republic. After battling illness and relying on her adult children for support, Ana took out her first loan to purchase a traditional Dominican dessert to sell on the street. She built strong relationships with her customers and now fully supports herself—and even helps support her grandchildren.
Pray for our partner in the Philippines, the Center for Community Transformation (CCT), as they work toward big goals: serving 113,000 people this year, training 2,600 community volunteer leaders, and transitioning to a new digital banking platform and loan processing system. Pray that through these goals, CCT can help more families grow their businesses and faith in Christ. Week 6 Pray for our team’s Leadership Summit this week, as staff and partners from across our global network gather in the U.S. Pray for safe travels, meaningful conversations, and lasting impact as we connect to strengthen our work and learn from one another. |
