Children's ministry

Microfinance attracts donors who want to make the most of each donated dollar. Many are impressed by the compounding effect that is achieved as clients repay their loans and the same funds are issued to new borrowers to help support more livelihoods and families. But what if, via microfinance, your donated dollars could do even more good for a broader group of individuals in impoverished communities?

HOPE is committed to ensuring that its microfinance institutions benefit not only their clients but also their communities. As microfinance institutions mature and reach a point of self-sufficiency, the interest paid by clients begins to generate profits for the institution. HOPE remains committed to using any profits its programs generate to continue assisting the world’s poor.

HOPE’s profits are often used to fuel additional expansion of the microfinance ministry, extending services to more clients and their families. Because HOPE places a high value on families and desires to bring hope, opportunity, and the knowledge of Jesus Christ to future generations, profits are also used to support locally run, Christ-centered children’s ministries. The microfinance and children’s ministries complement one another in bringing holistic transformation to families. Children’s ministries are not limited to the children of clients and help HOPE extend its community outreach. Clients’ children are not required to participate in the ministries but often chose to do so in order to benefit from the educational and social opportunities made available to them.

Tomorrow Clubs

HOPE’s first children’s ministry partnership began in Ukraine in 1997. Tomorrow Clubs is a weekly ministry that now reaches more than 11,500 Ukrainian children across the country. It is funded in part by profits generated from HOPE’s microfinance ministry in that country. Tomorrow Clubs provide an opportunity for the children of Ukraine to attend hobby classes, receive the support and counsel of Christ-following mentors, and learn of a God who loves them and longs to be in relationship with them. The ministry is run completely by local Ukrainian staff. Over 400 clubs operate on a weekly basis, staffed by 1,500 Ukrainian volunteers. Tomorrow Clubs have had tremendous success in partnering with local churches in Ukraine to support and operate these clubs. The Tomorrow Clubs’ volunteers are channeled through the local churches, and when children and their parents become interested in attending church services, Tomorrow Club leaders connect them to local congregations.
